Carla du Toit

Carla du Toit, a Dalhousie medical student, co-founded NovaSonix Healthcare to develop portable 3D ultrasound technology for musculoskeletal care. Inspired by her rural upbringing, she aims to improve healthcare access. NovaSonix has won major innovation awards, placed in Synapse Life Sciences 2024, and attracted international investor interest.


Dr. Brigit Ertl-Wagner

Dr. Brigit Ertl-Wagner, Radiologist-in-Chief at Toronto’s SickKids, specializes in pediatric neuroradiology and imaging research, including AI and MRI. A professor at the University of Toronto, she holds numerous awards, editorial roles, and committee positions, with a focus on translating interdisciplinary research into clinical practice.


Xiaoxiao Li

Dr. Xiaoxiao Li, an assistant professor at UBC, Vector Institute faculty member, and Yale adjunct professor, focuses on AI in healthcare, developing responsible AI systems. A Canada CIFAR AI Chair, Dr. Li has published 50+ papers in top conferences and journals, including ICML, Nature Methods, and Medical Image Analysis.

Dr. Amir Manbachi

Dr. Amir Manbachi, an Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins University, specializes in neurosurgery, biomedical engineering, and ultrasound. He directs HEPIUS Innovation Labs, developing advanced medical ultrasound devices for spinal cord injuries. His researchincludes ultrasound-guided spine surgery, tumor ablation, and neuromodulation, focusing on innovative applications in neurosurgical care.

Prof. Terry Peters

Prof. Terry Peters, Scientist at Robarts Research Institute and Professor Emeritus at Western University, specializes in medical imaging and surgical simulation. With over 370 publications and ~30,000 citations, he is a Fellow of multiple prestigious organizations and a recipient of the MICCAI Enduring Impact Award and the Canadian Organization of Medical Physics Gold Medal.


Ananth Ravi

Ananth Ravi, co-inventor of MOLLI® localization technology and founder of MOLLI Surgical, is dedicated to improving patient care and increasing treatment accessibility. Inspired by his upbringing in Zambia, he developed innovations to reduce healthcare barriers. A former Sunnybrook Medical Physicist, he’s the only physicist to win the Human Touch Award.


Dr. Alla Reznik

Dr. Alla Reznik, Tier 1 Canada Research Chair and Physics Professor at Lakehead University, specializes in photoconductive materials and imaging technologies. Her research led to Radialis Inc., producing PET technology for breast cancer detection. A Senior Scientist at TBRHRI, she focuses on accessible, advanced imaging to improve patient outcomes.

Tali Rosman

Tali Rosman, a business advisor and M&A expert, has led Xerox’s Elem Additive, commercializing liquid metal jetting technology with partners like the US Navy and Siemens. Now advising startups and investors in deep-tech, she serves as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Toronto Metropolitan University, driving innovation and commercialization while championing industry advancement.

Dr. Nardin Samuel

Dr. Nardin Samuel, a resident physician and post-doctoral researcher at the University of Toronto, is CEO and Co-founder of Cove Neurosciences, a brain data analytics startup. She is a board member of the Clinician Investigator Trainee Association of Canada and an award-winning entrepreneur, scientist, and physician recognized among Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women.


Dr. Cari Whyne

Dr. Cari Whyne, the Susanne and William Holland Chair in Musculoskeletal Research at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, is a Senior Scientist and Director of the Holland Bone and Joint Research Program. A Full Professor at the University of Toronto, her translational bioengineering research integrates biomechanics, imaging, and surgical innovation, focusing on cancer, rehabilitation, and fracture healing.


Dr. Graham A. Wright

Dr. Graham A. Wright, Senior Scientist at Sunnybrook Research Institute and Professor at the University of Toronto, specializes in cardiovascular MRI imaging. His research bridges biophysics, engineering, and clinical application for heart and vascular diseases. With over 235 publications and 25 patents, he collaborates with industry to translate research into practice.
